What is it about?
It is a surgical procedure that enhances and corrects skin laxity of the face and neck muscles tensing and readjusting the skin above them. The procedure takes 5 to 10 years depending on the patient's age and skin quality.
Age, sun and stress of everyday life can be reflected in the face. Flaccidity is visible in the middle of the face, deep creases below the lower eyelids, deep creases along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth, fat that has fallen or displaced formation of jowls by the loss of muscle tone in the lower face, the appearance of having a second chin even in normal-weight, loose skin and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw.
A facelift cannot stop the aging process, but delays it, improving the most visible signs of aging.
Who are eligible?
The candidates are men and women whose face skin and neck have begun to sag, but having suitable elasticity and strong bones.
Most patients are between 40 and 60 years old, stretching can be successful also in people between 70 and 80 years. A facelift will make the patient look younger, have a fresher appearance and can boost self- esteem.
A bandage is gently placed around the face to minimize swelling and bruising. The patient will use painkillers, and need to have their head elevated a few days after the surgery. Most items are removed within 5 days after surgery; the scalp takes longer to heal. For several months, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure and always wear sunscreen.
